Contamination

Compass Geotechnical have considerable experience of investigating contaminated land including former petrol stations, landfill sites, haulage yards, petrochemical works, gas works and factories. The contamination investigation (Phase 2) builds on the findings of the Phase 1 desk study and provides a phased approach to meet our client’s and regulatory requirements.

All investigations comply with the relevant guidelines as well as the requirements of relevant statutory bodies (LA, NHBC, EA). Appropriate investigation techniques are employed by experienced staff to sample, monitor and assess soils, groundwater, gases and vapours.

Qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, in line with current UK guidelines, are used to appraise levels of contamination and provide an informed approach to decision making and remedial action. Modelling of contamination linkages and derivation of site specific assessment criteria for both soils and groundwater allow the formulation of cost effective solutions for clean up operations.
